Challenge

Objective: Move client’s IT infrastructure to a new much larger office

Background

Our client leased a new building, that was more than 10 times larger than their prior location, moving from 8,000 to nearly 100,000 sq ft. Client wanted a seamless move to their new facility, with a solid and cost effective technology setup that worked properly from their first day in the new office. 

Solution

Bayside regularly assists clients, both large and small with technology planning and support for office relocations.   For this biotech client, we provided the following services to manage and accomplish the technology related aspects of  their move: 

  • Collaborate with client and their space design planning team to design new: server room, low voltage wiring, power systems and wireless systems necessary for their new building setup 

  • Evaluate available internet service options, provide recommendation on specific Internet service choice 

  • Create a low voltage (ethernet) wiring RFQ and provide suggested vendors / contractors to bid on buildout of low voltage wiring system.   Evaluated bids and assisted client in final selection of a wiring contractor. 

  • Provide shopping lists for all equipment needed to build out the new location and assist client with purchases as needed.   This client happened to use Meraki networking equipment – we work with all major networking equipment brands. 

  • Network switches, power backup equipment, firewall systems, equipment racking – everything needed 

  • Configure, connect and test all technology equipment prior to move 

  • Setup and testing of all technology equipment prior to the client’s desired move-in date. 

  • Connected the client’s servers and assisted with user support until users were situated and working normally in their new building 

  • Provide debrief / handoff to new technology setup to client’s internal IT team, who took over ongoing support of the setup 

Outcome

Client moved into their new office on time, without any technology related surprises or downtime.   They shut down operations mid day on a Friday, relocated their equipment over the weekend, and they were operational the following Monday morning. 

 

We also debriefed the client’s internal IT Team, such that they have been able to take over the maintenance and operation of their networking system on their own after the move was completed. 

A Successful Partnership

This project is just one example of our long-term relationship with this client. We continue to work on a wide range of projects and provide ongoing support.
